Casa Calvet - Winner of Best Artistic Building Prize in Barcelona
Commissioned by textile mogul Andre Calvet in 1899, Casa Calvet is now considered Gaudí’s most conservative work, belonging to his Naturalist stage, wherein his designs were primarily inspired by nature and organic elements. For this project, the famous architect counted on collaborations by his assistants Francesc Berenguer, Joan Rubió and Juli Batllevell.
In 1900, Casa Calvet won First Place in the city’s inaugural annual competition for artistic buildings.
